Avenues of Service

Club service works to strengthen fellowship of members through training and hospitality. Clubs have serious topics to work toward, so having various social events that bring members and their guests informally and for fun, contributes to genuine fellowship. Our club has organised many accomplished speakers sharing their experiences as well as motivational speakers for our regular/family meetings for which even Anns have been invited; intra club sports events to strengthen the fellowship between fellow Rotarians; and unique and varied themed fellowships over the years. Metro is known for recognizing the efforts made by Club Presidents and Club Editors by annually awarding the best Bulletins in our District.
Vocational Service encourages members to serve other people through their vocations, education, skillsets, which encourages high ethical standards. Metro has been instrumental in training many under privileged persons in becoming skilled AC technicians, 2 wheeler mechanics and conducting various vocational training programs.
Community Service is exactly what the name implies — projects and activities our club undertakes to improve community life. Over the years, Metro has donated to old age homes, orphanages, homes for special children, held various eye/dental medical camps, adoption of villages, major concentration on upgrading facilities at Public Health Centres, Cancer Institute and VHS.
International Service volunteers work to expand the Rotarians’ humanitarian work around the world. This important service promotes understanding and peace, sponsors projects in other countries and works with international partners to support projects in their communities. Metro has organised international evenings like German night, International Eye Camp conducted in Africa, Sister Club arrangements in Sri Lanka and Malaysia, hosting members from GSE teams and Youth Exchange programs.
Youth Service works to engage youths and young adults in leadership roles. Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA) is a training program for young people, ages 14 to 30 and has been conducted annually. Rotaract is an International Youth Program is for ages 18 to 30 while Interact focuses on international service for youths from 12 to 18 years of age.
